DIY Project: Button Up Shirt to Cushion Cover

We love this cute craft idea from Apartment Therapy! A quick and easy project that should take under an hour to complete, and all you need is an old shirt, a scrap of red material and a needle and thread.

to This!

Instructions

1. Turn the buttoned-up shirt inside-out and lay it on a flat surface.
2. If you have a square cushion cover on hand, place it on the shirt. There should be at least 1" of fabric from the shirt showing all the way around the cushion cover. Place pins 1" away from the edge of the cushion cover. If you don't have a square cushion cover, use pins to mark a square that is about 2" wider than your cushion.
3. Cut the shirt into a square, making sure to cut both layers of fabric.
4. Sew around the square, leaving about 1/2"of fabric all around.
5. Unbutton your new cushion cover and turn inside-out.
6. If you want to make an appliqué, cut out the desired shape from scrap fabric and it stitch on.
7. Stuff with a cushion and button up.
8. Sit back and enjoy your cute new cushion!
