Top 8 Shoe Shopping Tips

It never hurts to be prepared!
We've put together 8 helpful tips to make your next shoe shopping trip a breeze...

1. For everyday wear, go for a shoe with a heel between a half-inch to an inch.
Low heels provide a broad base for stability to distribute your weight as evenly as possible over the entire foot.

 2. Shoes do not need a breaking-in period; they should feel comfortable from day one.
However, all is not lost if that pair you love is feeling a tad tight - a cobbler can usually help stretch the shoes to fit your needs.

3. When trying on shoes, wear the kinds of socks you'll most likely wear with the shoes in the future, and don't forget to take along any inserts or orthotics you'll need to wear with the shoes.

4. Don't buy shoes if you can't wiggle your toes in them. Round or square toe box footwear will allow room for the natural shape of the foot.

5. Shop for shoes later in the day. Our feet naturally expand throughout the day, so for a comfortable fit it's a good idea to try on shoes when your feet are at their largest.
The difference can be half a size in width by the end of the day compared to the morning.

6. Remember, the higher the heel, the more pressure is placed on the forefoot and the likelier you are to develop a bunion, hammertoe, pinched nerve, corn, or callus. Not pretty!

7. 70% of the population overpronates, and overpronators should wear shoes with support as much of the time as possible.

8. Choose shoes that suit your life! It's all about CPW (Cost Per Wear) Go for shoes that you know you will get the most use out of and will suit your own lifestyle.

Happy shopping!
